WHAKAMANAHIA TE RANGATAHI

2026 Applications OPEN NOW!

Whakamanahia Te Rangatahi (WTR) is an annual youth mentoring programme designed to empower rangatahi by fostering a strong sense of identity, language, and culture. Through a carefully curated series of wānanga, workshops, and hands-on experiences, participants develop essential leadership, communication, and creative skills that contribute to their personal growth and future success.

Since its inception, WTR has had a profound impact on its participants, many of whom have gone on to take on leadership roles within their communities, pursue tertiary education, and secure meaningful employment in the arts and cultural sectors.

We are excited to announce that applications for WTR 2026 are open now, and close on Sunday 1st March. Click here to download an application form!

If you have any questions about the programme, or want to apply for 2026, please email anjelina@miharo.org

Awhetia

Our talented senior artists, Harete and Te Rautini, have created a beautiful exhibition that is on display now at the Mīharo gallery (28 Don Street, Invercargill).

This beautiful exhibition reflects the artists journeys- including the people they've met and the beautiful landscapes they’ve experienced. This exhibition speaks of moments in time that are precious, and sharing those moments with others.

This exhibition closes on Thursday 19th February, so come in and see it while you can!

Mīharo Murihiku Trust is a Māori and Pasifika cultural arts trust based in Murihiku, Aotearoa. We facilitate and manage cultural and arts events within the Southland and Central Otago regions. This includes events, workshops, exhibitions and projects with a strong focus on engaging rangatahi.

We provide meaningful and enriching opportunities for our community that are underpinned by Māori and Pasifika values.

We want to see a region where arts and culture are visible, valued and thriving. A region where young people are exposed to meaningful and attainable opportunities for their futures.
